THE OLD POINT LOMA LIGHTHOUSE

For more than 150 years the lighthouse high atop Point Loma has attracted visitors to one of the world's most spectacular harbor views. Its height—422 feet above sea level—is why the Federal Government selected the site for one of the first Pacific Coast lighthouses. Its height—the highest in the United States at the time—is why the lighthouse shut down after 36 years of service. But there is much more to the story of the Old Point Loma Lighthouse.
